Below is a list of our non-profit members. Many of these organizations rely on the generosity of volunteers who devote their time and energy in a variety of ways.
Volunteering is usually seen as an unselfish act given strictly for the aid it gives to those being served. What volunteering also does is give back to the volunteer a sense of accomplishment, worthiness and value. It can as quickly bring a smile to the face of the volunteer as it can to the person being helped.
If you are considering volunteering in our community, please contact any of the organizations listed below for more information.

Operation A.B.L.E. of Greater Boston
Tom McFarland - (617) 542-4180
For 26 years, Operation A.B.L.E. of Greater Boston has been helping mature workers age 45 and older get the job training and employment services they need in order to find meaningful employment. We are continually looking for individuals with career counseling, computer training, marketing communications, and other backgrounds to help the agency train and counsel its participants and promote its mission and programs to a variety of audiences in Massachusetts. In particular, we are looking for volunteers to help us extend our outreach into local communities throughout eastern Massachusetts to raise awareness of A.B.L.E.'s capabilities among local job seekers, employers, organizations, and government agencies. Put your "people" skills to work in your home and neighboring communities to help older workers make their way into the workforce. Candidates interested in volunteering with Operation A.B.L.E. can contact Tom McFarland, Communications Director, at 617 542 4180 x127 or at tmcfarland@operationable.net.
ShirleyArts!
The mission of ShirleyArts! is to support and promote the visual and performing arts for education and enjoyment. This involves holding classes, putting on amateur plays and concerts, and bringing professional performances to the schools and the town. We have many opportunities for volunteers. Opportunities include advertising and ticket sales, being an usher or working backstage at performances, some people are skilled at making costumes, finding props, constructing sets and painting scenery. Other people contribute to the group by loaning their large vehicles to help move furniture and scenery. In the summer, crews are needed to run the food concessions at the summer concert series. Those who give cash donations to help sponsor programs are also appreciated. Board members do much of this and also search for and act on programs to be sponsored. To learn more, go to www.shirleyarts.org. Contact Artistic Director Meredith Marcinkewicz at mail@shirleyarts.org if you would like to become involved with ShirleyArts! .
